gendel_kunin_group_image_2_400Jeff Bailey Gallery presents works by Jackie Gendel and by Julia Kunin and sculpture in the garden by Allen Glatter, on view through August 10.

The rich colors and varied textures of Gendel’s and Kunin’s works are but a part of their evocative nature. Bodies float in and out of Gendel’s paintings, while objects (natural and man-made) adhere to Kunin’s loosely figurative sculptures. Evolution and change are inherent in each work, with each one suggesting its own story.

Jackie Gendel has had eleven solo exhibitions throughout the U.S. and internationally (four with Jeff Bailey Gallery). The American Academy of Arts and Letters awarded her an Academy Award in Art in 2007. She participated in the Marie Walsh Sharpe Space Program, New York in 2010; and was an artist-in-residence at The MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire in 2005. She received her MFA from Yale University in 1998. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Julia Kunin has had solo exhibitions in New York, Texas and Germany (Wiesbaden and Offenbach). She was a Fulbright Scholar in Pecs, Hungary in 2013 and the recipient of The John Michael Kohler Arts Industry Fellowship in 2007. She received her MFA from Rutgers University in 1993 and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1984. Kunin lives and works in Brooklyn. She is represented by Sandra Gering Gallery, New York.

At Jeff Bailey Gallery, 127 Warren Street.
