Claverack Landing presents the Amphion Quartet on Saturday, October 13, at 7 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, 4th Street & Warren in Hudson. The program will include Wolf’s Italian Serenade, Mendelssohn’s Opus 44 #1, Gershwin’s Lullaby and Janacek’s Quartet No. 2, “Intimate Letters.”
The four players met at the Yale School of Music and have been together for only three years. In that time, their exquisite presentations have gained them plenty of recognition and a loyal following. The result? They were declared the winner of the 2011 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition; the group has been chosen as Quartet-in-Residence at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts for this year; and they will be joining the roster of the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s “CMS Two” program beginning with the 2013 season. Not bad for a group that isn’t even four years old yet.
